Evidently this guy wrote a fabulous book called Looking for Alaska. Evidently I live in a cave. Hey! There's a cave in this book! Look at me, making all these literary connections. While I missed the Green bandwagon the first time around, I did catch his latest book.
After being dumped by 19 Katherines, boy genius-recent high school graduate takes his best friend on a road trip. They end up in Gutshot, TN and boy-genius tries to develop a mathematical formula to predict when two people will break up. Silliness, overeating, and girl trouble ensues.
Reasons I liked this book:
1. I laughed out loud. This does not happen very often.
2. There were very few pretty people in it.
3. The math actually checks out. Well, at least the book claims it checks out, and I'm not smart enough to disagree.
4. It feels a little like High Fidelity for kids, And if you know about my love of John Cusack you know that anything that smells like that fast talking, self-deprecating, wise guy is good enough for me.
